Feast day: 13th October

The Virgin appearing to St Bernard of Clairvaux. Master of the Legend of the Magdalen, Attrib. (b. 15th/16th century)
Traditionally, all Cistercian Abbeys are dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The patroness of the Cistercian Order (& Companions) of Saint Bernard is Our Lady of Clairvaux. We annually celebrate the day on the 13th of October, the feast day celebrating the foundation of the monastery at Clairvaux by Saint Bernard in the diocese of Langres 912 years ago.
