A Prayer for our Order and Companions

God our Father,

your servant Bernard was so aflame with love for you

that he could awaken the same love in others.

Grant that, in the world of today,

our Order & Companions may be a place

where your people may find the reality of their faith,

and know the wonder of your presence,

through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

 

A Prayer for all those who follow the Rule of St Benedict

Lord our God,

by your grace Saint Benedict

became a great teacher in the school of your service,

and inspired us to unite in the Cistercian life.

Grant that we may put nothing before our love of you.

May we with open hearts follow

St Benedict and St Bernard of Clairvaux,

and, like them, walk eagerly in the path of your commandments.

We ask this though our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

 

A Prayer for Vocations to the Religious Life

Lord Jesus Christ,

in your great love you draw all people to yourself;

and in your wisdom you call us to your service.

We pray at this time that you will kindle in the hearts of men and women

the desire to follow you in the Religious Life.

Give to those whom you call,

grace to accept their vocation readily and thankfully,

to make the whole-hearted surrender

which you ask of them, and for love of you, to persevere to the end.

We ask in your name.
